CWB certified to CSA W47.1, Division 2
CSA W47.1 is the Canadian standard for companies that fuse-weld steel. Certification is held by the company, not just the welder: the Canadian Welding Bureau checks our welding procedures, our welders’ qualifications and the people responsible for welding quality.
Division 2 requires a welding supervisor on staff and access to a welding engineer. It’s the level many structural specifications call for, and it’s why general contractors can put our welds in their buildings.
Merit Iron also reports that it is near completion of pressure welding certification. Call to confirm the current status if your job needs it.

Safety on every job
Steel work means heavy lifts, hot work and working at height. Every field job starts with a site safety plan, and lifts are planned before the crane arrives.
- Written site safety plans
- Rigging and crane coordination planned ahead
- A posted safety program in the shop
- PPE, hot-work and fall-protection practices on site
