Merit Iron opened in May 1999, started by principals who already had decades in steel fabrication between them. The shop at 975 Logan Ave still does the work the way it started: draw it carefully, build it to the drawing, and stand behind it on site.

How a job moves through the shop
Four stages, one company. The same people who draw it build it, check it and set it.

Plan
Discovery and quoting, then detailing and approval. We read the drawings, ask the questions and model the steel before anything is ordered.
- 02
Fabricate
Cut, fitted and welded in our Logan Avenue shop by CWB-certified welders.
- 03
Verify
Pieces are checked against the approved shop drawings before they’re finished and loaded.
- 04
Deliver
Our trucks deliver in erection order and our crew installs, plumbs and closes out.

How much does that piece weigh?
Our free steel tools work out the weight of plate, bar, tube and angle, add up feet and inches, and list common grades and rebar sizes. Handy on site and at the bench.
